Love the Common but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ALL DOG OWNER KEEP YOUR DOG UNDER CONTROL! I'd like to know if is normal to walk with a huge and vicious dog unleaded...I can say I'm every day walking through the Common and everyday I have problems...I wonder if there is a specific law to avoid dangerous behaviour

Hello, I was born in London but I now live in Rome.
I visited the Rookery in Stretham about two weeks ago.
I was very happy because whenever I go there it always looks beautiful and well taken care of smile Thank you!
I wish we had a Rookery in Rome too.
Ciao
Stefania

Jon - you'd best ask Lambeth Parks and Green Spaces or the Park Rangers about this. I know that a year or two ago Lambeth started controlling wedding photographs in the Rookery.

hello,

This may not be a question you can answer but as im not sure who to ask i thought I would start here.

I am a local photographer based in SW16, and i am about to extend my photography service to include family portraits and would love to be able to shoot people in the fantastic surroundings of the rookery, but wondered if i need permission to do this or if it is allowed at all.

Any advice you can give would be really appreciated.

many thanks

Jon

The stolen world Cup was found in 1966 not on the Common but in a garden fairly nearby - on Beulah Hill. Or that, at least, is what various web sites say.

As the Editor of Common Knowledge, the newsletter of the Friends of Streatham Common, I am currently seeking people who can provide reminiscences of the common from before 1960. If, Moya (or any one else reading this) can provide me with a paragraph or two on your early memories, I would be grateful. What I would particularly like is information on what you recall of your regular use of the common: what sports, visiting attractions, events, activities etc?

Am I really the first signature in the Streatham Common Guestbook? Stumbled upon your site while ambling down "Memory Lane". Am now 66 but lived half my life in Streatham (the other half in France) and have been retracing my roots. Spent many happy times on the common and glad to hear the cafe is still there. My French football mad husband doesn't believe me when I tell him the stolen World Cup was found on the common (Rookery???). Could someone please confirm this - and the year? Surely I didn't dream it. Keep up the good work - glad to hear there are people out there who love the common as much as I do.
